Fibre optic measurements and model uncertainty quantification for Fe-SMA strengthened concrete structures

This investigation aimed at studying a novel strengthening method using ribbed memory-steel bars by means of quasi-static load experiments and computational modelling large-scale concrete members in flexure. The first part the study focussed on strain activated non-activated measured with distributed fibre optic measurement system during external loading strengthened slabs. In second part, cross-section analysis model was developed enhanced two uncertainty quantification methods: sensitivity Bayesian calibration. measurements enabled detailed monitoring peak strains owing to cracking. data post-processed obtain axial stress bond shear proximity largest bending crack. provided relative importance calibrated input parameters their interdependencies. Model calibration quantified uncertain such as prestress, parameters, constitutive laws, resulting good accordance between experiments. models were validated independent measurements. Parametric studies prediction effects investigated similar different materials geometries.
